Dear Diamond fans,
It has come to my attention that i've been terribly lax in my blog updates! My apologies! I have to admit that most of my day to day updates and information appears on Facebook (and sometimes Twitter)...but I shall rectify the situation :)
2010 has certainly been an interesting year - lots of ups and downs, and LOTS of travel!
In February I was in Las Vegas, where I appeared at Dr. Sketchy's - Much thanks to Cha Cha Velour for putting on a special night for me - it was a lot of fun, and I was absolutely honored that Dusty Summers came by to see me.
April saw me off to Chicago for Stripper's Holiday - a week of workshops and a show with Michelle L'Amour. Seriously, this was one of the best things i've attended - it was like a week long burlesque slumber party - apparently when Michelle & Franky were apartment hunting, one of her main criteria was that the place be big enough to fit 10 strippers - which she announced to the agent! LOL.
In May I appeared at the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival for the fifth year in a row - in the group number that I costume designed for Screaming Chicken that was accepted to compete at the Burlesque Hall of Fame
June was my fourth trip to the Burlesque Hall of Fame (formerly the Miss Exotic World Pageant) in Las Vegas - and the opportunity to compete in the big Saturday night show in a real Las Vegas showroom! Talk about amazing! We didn't win, but were incredibly well received and it was an incredible experience.
I didn't perform, but was in Ottawa for Canada Day, and thought it would be appropriate to take my Canada Flag evening gown - which I wore to wander about the Downtown, Rideau Canal Area, and of course near Parliament Hill. The queen was there, but the crowd was far too thick for me to see her, or her me... oh well! Lots of pictures taken by lots of people, and was told I had the best outfit of the day!
Later in July I was back in Ontario for the Toronto International Burlesque Festival - thanks to Sauci and the rest of the team for such a fun weekend! I performed my Le Jazz Hot number on Friday night and was told by Tigger that it was the best thing he's seen me do, and Satan's Angel pronounced it "fantastic"!!!
It's early September now, and i'll probably be sticking close to home for the next while - This month I appeared at Dr. Sketchy's Vancouver for the first time and it was wonderful - I don't think they could have packed any more artists into the Wallflower! I also appeared at Miss Stretch's Remedial Cabaret at J Lounge, and will be appearing in the Taboo Revue next weekend at the WISE Hall.
October's shaping up to be quite the month - I will be introducing "Naked Girls Reading" to Vancouver - a monthly literary salon with beautiful nude burlesque girls! In conjunction with NGR there will be a big show at the WISE hall called "Midnight Blue Burlesque", and a series of workshops. I'm coordinating the costumes for Screaming Chicken's production of Greece at the Waterfront Theatre, and will be starting to teach Intro to Burlesque classes at The Art of Loving! All very exciting :)
