Chronicle of the New Place Part 2

My place is starting to look an awful lot like an actual home now! The paint is up (yay the new color is much nicer) in the living/dining room and the bedroom. I've opted to keep the 2nd bedroom the original lighter color as it will be more condusive to working by. I'm holding off on the kitchen/bath for now until I dive into the renovation of both of them.

After three months of scouring Craigslist, I found an estate sale that had a lovely brass & crystal 6 light chandelier for sale, so I popped out as soon as it opened, and got it for a pretty decent price. (It came from the apartment of an elderly lady who had absolutely loved leopard print. I find it somewhat ironic that it has moved into another space of a leopard-print-ophile)

Picked up some nice glossy black spraypaint, pulled all the crystals off and washed them, then spray painted the brass shiny black. it looks gorgeous! and will definitely be a huge part of making my boudoir look like a classy bordello LOL!

My other big project this weekend was making the curtains for the bedroom. I went out and got 18 yards of 120" wide black sheer fabric (Thanks Jazz at Rokkos!! He always gives me such good deals!) Cut, cut, iron, iron, sew, sew, repeat 6 times. I was rather proud of myself - I'd gone and bought the Ikea wire curtain hanging system, but after helping friends hang some eye-bolts and chain from their ceiling, I opted to get wire, eye bolts, hooks, and clips from Home Depot and i'll return the Ikea system. What I ended up with was less expensive and almost invisible. ...and I now have floor to ceiling black sheer curtains across the back wall and partially up the sides behind my bed. It looks very luxurious!

  1. Irony: I needed to make roman blinds to cover the windows in my bedroom... to go UNDER the black sheers. The only fabric I could find that was a perfect match to the paint was RAW SILK. ...so I now have a gorgeous pair of silk roman blinds underneath a set of synthetic sheers.
